Sajid Tarar Warn: Pakistan’s future is at Risk Due to Neglect of Education, English, and AI

“Where is your direction?” — This pointed question by Sajid Tarar, Pakistani-American political activist and founder of Muslims for Trump, has sent ripples through Pakistan’s political and educational discourse.

Appearing on Geo News’ Jirga, Tarar delivered a stinging critique of Pakistan’s persistent neglect of education, English language proficiency, and artificial intelligence (AI) — warning that these oversights are undermining the country’s economic future in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

The Education Crisis No One Is Addressing

Tarar expressed dismay at Pakistan’s continued lack of investment in basic and advanced education.

“Knowledge is a weapon,” he said. “Why do you not focus on mathematics and English? Why do you not try to move forward through AI and the economy?”

His remarks highlight a painful reality: Pakistan’s education system is struggling. With literacy rates stagnating and digital skills underdeveloped, millions of students are missing out on 21st-century tools critical for national progress.

Tarar didn’t stop at general education. His sharpest criticism was reserved for Pakistan’s failure to engage with AI and technology.

He contrasted Pakistan’s approach with India’s success, stating:

“India’s biggest weapons are its institutes of technology.”

Countries like India and Israel, he explained, have surged ahead by prioritizing education, digital infrastructure, and AI research. Pakistan, by contrast, remains mired in outdated debates and misplaced priorities.

A Nation Focused on the Wrong Battles?

Without naming names, Tarar referenced former PM Imran Khan:

“An Oxford graduate raised the slogan of change and Naya Pakistan, but moved the direction towards the Taliban.”

Tarar accused political leaders of investing in US lobbyists and outdated ideological battles instead of focusing on digital literacy and technological growth, pillars he sees as essential to modern statehood.

“There is no room for wars in 2025. This is the era of economy and technology,” he declared.

Learning from Israel, Competing with India

Citing post-WWII Israel, Tarar argued that countries that invested in education and innovation emerged as global powerhouses.

“They’re manipulating the entire world because they focused on education.”

His warning is clear: Without a radical shift in policy, Pakistan risks becoming irrelevant in the global tech economy.

Sajid Tarar’s Call to Action:

  • Invest in STEM education, especially AI in Pakistani schools
  • Revamp English and math curriculums nationwide
  • Train teachers in digital literacy and AI tools
  • Launch nationwide programs for tech education in rural areas
  • Encourage private-public partnerships to fund AI education reforms in Pakistan

Final Thoughts: Will Pakistan Listen?

Tarar’s interview wasn’t just a critique — it was a wake-up call. With AI and digital transformation reshaping the world, Pakistan must choose: continue its current path or reimagine its future through education and technology.

“Your children’s future depends on your direction,” Tarar warned. The question remains — is anyone in power listening?
