By mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, in 2025, the minimum amount for the Fitrana in Pakistan is Rs. 240. The Fitrana can be paid in the form of cash, food or any other equivalent item.
Rs. 240 is the minimum amount while individual can choose to pay more than Rs. 240 if they want to increase the charity.
When Should Fitrana Be Paid?
At the end of the holy month of Ramadan before the Eid-ul-Fitr, typically in the morning of Eid. It is also encouraged to pay as early as possible. So the needy should have enough time to benefit from the money.
How to Pay Fitrana?
Muslims can pay Fitrana in several ways:
- Directly to the Needy: First look in your community if there is a needy distribute personally.
- Through Mosques: Mosques alos collect Fitrana to distribute to the needy you should seek help from the mosque.
- Online Payment Platforms: With the rise of technology you can pay your Fitrana through online platforms.
The most important step is to make sure your Fitrana is going to the eligible and right person, and please discourage the picture session when distributing the Fitrana among the poor.
